Understanding the biggest losers

What this page shows

The cryptocurrencies with the largest percentage price falls over the last 24 hours. As with gainers, the ranking is by percentage alone, so small assets dominate the extremes.

Why a coin falls

Sharp declines have very different causes and it is worth identifying which applies. A broad market decline moves nearly everything together, and you will see it reflected across the whole list. An isolated fall in a single asset usually points to something specific: a token unlock releasing new supply, a security incident, a delisting, or the end of a promotional campaign. The list itself does not distinguish between them.

The trap in buying falls

A large drop is not by itself evidence that an asset is cheap. Prices fall because sellers outnumber buyers, and the reasons that caused that imbalance often persist. Assets that fall heavily frequently continue falling, and in crypto a substantial number never recover at all — a token can lose most of its value permanently when a project is abandoned.

What to check

Look at whether the fall is isolated or market-wide, at trading volume — a fall on very low volume may not reflect much real selling — and at whether the asset has fallen repeatedly over a longer window. A single-day loss on an asset already down heavily over a month is a different situation from a one-off drop.
